Lay Ministries are envisioned to play key roles in serving the vision
and mission of St. John's Episcopal Church, Flushing, Queens, New York.
Hereunder are the current Lay Ministries where one may contribute
time, talents or treasures in the celebration of the Eucharist
and/or helping draw ourselves, our families and community nearer to the

Acolytes.
Acolytes are people (ages 5 through adult) who are interested in
bein g an important part of the worship service. Acting as
Cross-Bearers & Torch-Bearers, helping with the Procession,
assisting the priest in celebrating the Eucharist and helping
the Recessional are the main duties. [If you want to become an

Lectors
The Lectors lead worship
through the reading of the scriptures. [If you are interested in serving

Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers
assist the Priest in serving the Bread & Wine at Communion. [If you

Ushers
Our ushers
welcome people to our services and guide the movement of people
in the Offertory and the Communion. [If you are interested in
