
October 8, 2006. A free medical consultation was held at St. John's
Episcopal Church , Flushing, Queens after the Sunday Morning Mass,
courtesy of the Aces of Queens Lions Club, Jackson Heights. The
cooperating institutions were: United Home Care, St. John's
Episcopal Church in Flushing and Holy Child/St. Paul's Episcopal Church
in Woodside.
The
health fair included: Electrocardiogram (EKG) examinations, blood
pressure (BP) examinations, urinalysis, eye sight testing as well as
height and weight information gathering and analysis.
Those who availed of the free medical examinations were mostly from
the
congregation of St. John's Episcopal Church, Flushing, their relatives
and friends who came as far as New Jersey, Connecticut, Floral Park and
Maspeth.
By ethnic origin the beneficiaries came mostly from the MABIKA
provinces of Northern Philippines (i. e., Mountain Province, Apayao,
Bontoc, Ifugao, Kalinga and Abra).
The Rev. Dario Palasi of St. John's Episcopal Church in Flushing and
the Rev. Dr. Fred Vergara, head of the Episcopal Asian Ministry, were
instrumental in coordinating the free medical consultations which is
getting to be a yearly event at St. John's Flushing.
