Re: Donation of St. John’s Episcopal Church congregation in Flushing,
Queens, New York to the victims of Typhoon Parma [locally known as
typhoon Peping] in Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet, amounting to US eight
hundred fify dollars [US$850].
Dear
Vestry Members,
May
we entrust to you the allocation/disbursement of the above captioned
donation which we are sending through Camilo and Virginia Madadsec,
members of our congregation going on vacation to the Philippines.
The
amount was raised during last Sunday’s coffee hour following the
memorial service of Fr. Martin Chopap-ing, Amelito Cruz, Jr., Blanche
Higgins, Nancy Molina, Joseph Perez and the Rev. Anthony Sagalla –
members or friends of St. John’s congregation who recently passed away.
Apparently inspired by Fr. Palasi’s homily touching on the good deeds
of the memorial service honorees and challenging the congregation to
likewise do good deeds by, for instance, opening their wallets for the
recent typhoon victims in the Philippines, the congregation became very
receptive of the fund raising initiative by two members of our
congregation [Vivalyn
(from Alab, Bontoc) and husband, Bruce Meyerhott]
during the memorial service’s coffee hour.
The
amount we are sending is relatively small but we would like to grow our
outreach ministry particularly to sister Episcopal Church institutions
in the Philippine Cordilleras. Towards this end, we would appreciate it
very much if you could share us a few pictures depicting how your church
or congregation is involved in sheltering and relief distribution
efforts for the typhoon victims. We would like to post these in our
website for whatever they are worth in promoting our outreach ministry.
May
the Good Lord continue to give you strength and inspiration in your
church ministry.
For
and in behalf of the congregation of St. John’s Episcopal Church,
Flushing, Queens, New York,
The Very Rev. Dario Palasi
